If you have questions about your tax return, HMRC’s Self-Assessment Help and Support live sessions could be just what you are looking for. HMRC can’t check their records, or discuss anything confidential, but will be able to help with general questions and answers, such as on business expenses.

Help and support is available to complete your Self-Assessment
- If you owe less than £3,000 and are an employee or get a company pension then you can pay what you owe through your tax code as long as you submit your return online by 30 December.
- If you have a 2015-16 Self-Assessment Tax return to complete then you must send it to HMRC online by 31 January to avoid a penalty. You can register and file your tax return online on the GOV.UK website.
- If you owe any tax or National Insurance from your completed return the deadline for making the payment is 31 January 2017. Details of how you can make a payment are available on GOV.UK.
